We are glad you have chosen or you may be considering making your home here along with approximately 12,000 other residents who enjoy living in this part of rural Georgia. We are proud of our community. You will find a first class progressive consolidated public school system in Bleckley County. You will also find a modern and well equipped Sheriff, Police, Fire, E911 and Rescue Department. Our recreation facility featuring 9 lighted ball fields and an indoor gymnasium. Organized recreation activities include baseball, basketball, football, and soccer programs. We are working to add tennis in 2005. Perhaps the crowning glory for Bleckley County is Middle Georgia College. Beginning winter semester 2005, Middle Georgia College will offer a 4 year Bachelor Degree program in Business Administration, Teacher Education and Nursing. Bleckley County is located on the Golden Isles Highway. We are within 15 miles of the geographic center of Georgia. Our downtown is situated at the intersection of US Highway 23 and US Alternate 129. Robins Air Force Base is a short 23 mile drive with a relatively no stops before entering the base. You can be in Macon in less than 40 minutes.
